New Britain - The Main Street Singers will perform their annual Winter Concert Saturday, December 12th at 4PM at South Church, 90 Main Street.

The holiday themed program includes music by Arne Running, Linda Spevacek, and John Raymond Howell; among others. 

A free-will offering to benefit the MSS Financial Aid Fund will be received. A reception in the church parlor will follow the concert.

Now in its 13th season, MSS serves children grades pre-school through grade 8 from New Britain, Newington, Bristol, Cromwell, Rocky Hill, Farmington, Plainville, Southington, and West Hartford. It's mission is to provide the opportunity for children in greater New Britain to sing in choirs that build community, strive for artistic excellence, and foster a life-long love of music. MSS is a non-profit organization that balances its annual budget through donations and grants. 

MSS is led by Music Director, Kenneth Craig. Now a highly regarded music teacher, Mr. Craig teaches general music and chorus in the Glastonbury school district at Naubuc Elementary School.  Mr. Craig performs and records with a rock band called “The Soaring Eagles” and also a member of CONCORA, Connecticut’s premiere professional choral ensemble.  Mr Craig is a recipient of numerous awards including the Connecticut Association of Schools’ “Exemplary Elementary Educator of the Year” for 2014, The Ronald McDonald House Charities “Local Hero Award” for 2014 and the Glastonbury Public Schools’ “Red Apple Award” for 2013-2014.
