Mayor Stewart and the New Britain Commission on the Arts presents an Art in the Heart of the City opening reception
NEW BRITAIN—Mayor Erin E. Stewart and the New Britain Commission on the Arts will hold an opening reception for a new exhibit at City Hall that features the works of artists from the New Britain Artists’ Co-op. The reception will be held prior to the start of the Common Council meeting on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m.
“New Britain is fortunate to have a thriving arts community that is supported by entities like the New Britain Artists’ Co-op, located right in the heart of our City,” said Mayor Erin Stewart. “The Co-op is home to many talented artists who work across a variety of media. We are excited to showcase their work here in City Hall.”
The exhibit is titled: “Downtown Expressions: Art Work by Members of the New Britain Artists’ Co-op.”
“Visionary leadership in the City and the downtown made our Artists’ Co-op possible,” said Stephen Hard, Chairman of the New Britain Arts Commission. “The exhibition further leverages the symbiosis between the arts, artists, and urban progress.”
The works will be on display through June 2, 2017.
The exhibition is one of several art galleries in City Hall. Student art work is on the third floor sky walk and an exhibition featuring the works by veterans is also on the second floor of City Hall. The exhibits are open to the public and free to view during normal operating hours of City Hall: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. Parking is available in the Badolato Garage and on surrounding streets.
